The Bengal Indigo Dye comes from indigofera tinctoria, in dictionary terms ‘true indigo’, native to the northwest of Bangladesh, the famous indigo producing region of Bengal. Nilpharmari, named by the British for its ‘nil farming’ and Rangpur are the key areas where this superior indigo is being grown and the dye produced.
